Mark Mabey, Group Head of Development at Magna

Mark has been in his current role at Magna since August 2002 and leads the development team from Magna’s Dorchester office in Dorset. Mark also worked for Magna between 1996 and 1999 in various development roles across the south and west of England. The gap in between was spent at South Somerset Homes setting up their development function from scratch.

Mark is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and has most recently been counting the pennies following a period of nearly 5 months travelling with his family to the antipodes and north America. Having survived an engine failure close to take off at Hong Kong airport Mark spent most of his time in the New Zealand summer but did catch up on our winter experience here in the UK whilst in Quebec.

Mark said “we were surprised by how much we all liked southern Victoria in Australia – the wildlife in particular was amazing. New Zealand was very enjoyable but not quite in the way we were anticipating. As for a highlight it was definitely the train trip across Canada – worth every cent. Arriving back here on the eve of Easter has been a shock to my system but I’m very pleased that the team and Source did the business in delivering the programme for 09/10”.

The year ahead will see Mark play a key role within the Source Working Group and input to Steering Group. Mark’s time away will be of value in approaching Magna’s pending development strategy review with a fresh perspective.
